Annotations workshop

A workshop and opening/exhibition, at Fanfare in Amsterdam, commissioned by Salt, Pepper & Peace on annotating in visuals ways different texts about authorship.

Different text were selected together with both OSP and SPP:

The tree text where printed on standard A4 and spatialized in the room. We bringed a pen-plotter, after a collective discussion and some reading, the participants where invited to detach the sheet and annotate them using computer graphics and pen-plotter technology, or by hands, producing echoing, spatialized and visual collective annotations. This was seen as much as a performative process, than a thinking process, and a plastic-visual process.

AAA is a virtual archive space and ongoing research project, based in Amsterdam, NL. The collection aims to serve as a cyclical resource; expanded through contributions from designers and artists, workshop sessions, and public events; in return, to be freely distributed and shared for the production of new works. It is inspired by the copyleft movement, as well as open-source ideology and collective learning practices. For more info, visit allaccessarchive.com

Open Source Publishing questions the influence and affordance of digital tools through its practice of (commissioned) graphic design, pedagogy and applied research. They prefer to use exclusively free and open-source software (F/LOSS). Currently the group is composed of people with backgrounds in graphic design, typography and development. They find excitement in the cross-over between its members respective fields and competences.

studio salt, pepper, and peace (spp) is a design studio run by Minhu Jun & Özgür Deniz Koldaş. Since graduating from the graphic design department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2023, they’ve been running a joint graphic design practice as Salt and Pepper (still undecided who is which). They design visual identities, printed matter, and websites for exhibitions and art spaces. Additionally, they publish Irregular, a graphic design magazine that comes out irregularly.
